Caniwi Cabin was designed as an accessory dwelling on a property with an existing home. The brief was for simplicity, energy efficiency, and privacy in a small but comfortable footprint with a modern look. The site is near the harbour and quite close to sea level, so possible future storm surges have been allowed for by putting the house on piles with parking and storage below.
