When the Anderson St. project began the house was actually falling down, but it had lovely bones and was very much worth saving. We addressed the extensive structural problems, gutted the entire house, and updated the floor plan while paying special attention to retaining the character that first marked the property as special. We kept or matched the original solid timber doors and old fashioned porcelain door knobs, the heart pine flooring, and all the lovely original woodwork. We also installed new windows and skylights in key positions to bring light into the interior, and added a lovely modern farmhouse kitchen with recycled cabinetry and concrete countertops opening out on a new backyard patio. Other improvements included a master bedroom and ensuite and full solar PV and solar hot water systems.
